I did Jeet Kune Do under joey perico at JKD Philippines in Taft.
Elorde katipunan for boxing.
Hybrid Yaw-yan for MMA.

RIght now, still active in boxing, will have my first amateur boxing fight in UKC 8 on May 30.

I fought once before at a "friendly sparring match" during elorde katipunan's x-mas party. Got my ass kicked. Grin Grin Jeet Kune DO is WAY different from boxing in terms of mechanics and pace. I now prefer boxing tho.  Grin

I stopped training MMA for almost half a year now  Cheesy

does this mean you prefer the rest except for JKD? ? oks ba talaga jkd in your experience.. . ? i am really curious about it. .btw where exact in taft? alam ko kasi vito cruz lrt .. then d ko na alam papunta. . .

well, the jkd that was taught to me in taft isnt really that applicable in combative sports. the movements are different, the punching motion is different, the kicks, the pace... everything. I had to re-arrange my striking when i started training in mma. JKD as taught in taft would be perfect for brawls and street fights though. Hands down.

For instance, the Jab in boxing utilizes body weight where as in JKD its more of the torque initiated by the hips.

PUnches in JKD are also vertical, in boxing you have to twist so the palms are facing downward.

In kicks, we were primarily trained to kick using the lead leg, to snap it hitting with the instep but when I trained in yawyan, the kicks start from the rear, the kicking motion was more of a "bat" and you hit with your shin- which is really more painful.

You should try it. Its located right next to Ministop beside the new Benilde building. THe one that looks like camp big falcon. Blue gate, Training fee is only at P100 per session.
